Notes | handkerchief - part of theatre costume used by members of 'The Brescians' concert party The Brescians were a singing troupe formed in the UK in the 1890s by the Hayward Brothers, including Henry and Rudall Hayward and their wives, Domenica and Adelina Martinengo. They toured New Zealand several times in the early 1900s performing with the West Picture Show at His Majesty's Theatre and at the Fuller's Opera House in Auckland. Subsequently the Henry Hayward and Rudall Hayward families settled in New Zealand. The two brothers were involved in establishing cinema throughout New Zealand but especially in Auckland where, as Hayward Enterprises they acquired the lease of the Royal Albert Hall and opened the city's first permanent picture theatre ion 1908. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
