English: These images were taken by Thomas T. Hammond during his trip to the Soviet Union. This specific image features a scene from act 1 of Boris Godunov (scene at the tavern) at the Bolshoi Theatre. Set design was created by Fyodor Fyodorovsky for the 1948 re-run, and remains in use to date (2020). Note that similar photos, apparently taken on the same night, are dated 1972. |
