Kozuka with Kanzan and Jittoku
Description
English: The two Zen eccentrics Kanzan (Ch. Hanshan [Hanshan]) and Jittoku (Ch. Shide [Shih Te]) are depicted standing beneath a pine tree. Kanzan has a scroll in his hands that he is reading to Jittoku. Jittoku stands behind Kanzan holding a broom. They were said to have lived in a monastery in China when they spoke to each other in a language no one understood. Depictions of the pair are common.
