English: U.S. Navy Capt. Richard Sharpe helps U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, based in Fort Bragg, N.C., unload stretchers from an SH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter at a medical evacuation site in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Sharpe, the on-site commander of the landing zone, is responsible for evaluating the severity of injuries and order of precedence for patients to be transported to the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Comfort for treatment. Comfort is supporting Operation Unified Response following a 7.0 magnitude earthquake that caused severe damage in Haiti, Jan. 12. |
