Summary
[edit]DescriptionHagiaSophia,ThomasGenezareth.jpg |
English: Trabzon, Hagia Sophia, On the north wall of the chancel, the upper of the two large frescoes depicts the encounter between Jesus and Doubting Thomas: Jesus, center left, points to his right with his left hand and raises his right hand to Thomas, who is his Hand stretched out to Jesus. On the right are eight apostles. In the picture below Jesus appears at the Sea of Galilee: on the right side three apostles are sitting in a boat, in the middle three more apostles are standing on the shore. Jesus holds a fish in his hand and gives the first of these three a loaf of bread. Below you can still see the head of Peter dipped in the water.
