Deutsch: Hadrian als Weltenherrscher: Auffahrt (Apotheose) des Kaisers Hadrian in den Himmel auf einem von einem Adler getragenen Wagen. Ursprünglich wohl für Claudius angefertigt, später wurde das Porträt zu Hadrian umgearbeitet. Eingefärbter Lagen-Achat-Kameo (Sardonyx). Original um 50, Überarbeitung zwischen 117 und 138. 1713 für den Preussischen König, später Überstellung in die Antikensammlung Berlin (Altes Museum) erworben; Inventarnummer FG 11056.
English: Hadrian as Ruler of the World: Apotheosis of Hadrian in a chariot on an Eagle to heaven. Originally probably made for Claudius (ca. 50), later Portrait reworked to Hadrian. Purchased 1713 for the prussian King, later to the Antikensammlung Berlin (Altes Museum); Invnr. FG 11056. |
