Description "Speedy" Class fishery protection vessel, mine countermeasures vessel, minelayer and fast attack jetfoil "HMS Speedy", 117 tons, launched 1979, commissioned 1980. Originally intended to be the leadship of a class of 12, all others were cancelled and "Speedy" was decommissioned and sold into private use in 1986. Why this was so has never been ascertained. At the Portsmouth Navy Day, 08/82. Scanned slide.
