Description |
English: HMS 'Australia': bow view, alongside a quay The battlecruiser 'Australia' was built by John Brown & Co at Clydebank, launched on 25 October 1911 and completed in June 1913. This reasonably accurate drawing shows her as fitted in early 1918, with no foretopmast and an enlarged control top with a rangefinder on the roof. An awning is rigged over her forecastle and brows extend to the quay on the right. She flies the Australian flag as a jack and the location is probably Portsmouth Dockyard. |
