English: Gun emplacement, Savernake - detail The gun emplacement would have formed part of the second line of defence during WWII in the event that an invasion had taken place. It is positioned between the two former railway stations that Savernake once had. The gun was a Hotchkiss 6-pounder anti-tank gun. The gun on the right in this image http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2540/3747774817_7b11f38d34_b.jpg which I photographed in Victoria, British Columbia, is such a gun. Information from 'Savernake at War' Roger Day 2007 http://www.ramsburyatwar.com/ (has sound at first).
