The Norwegian name "Gullhaug" is a composition of two wordsː the word "gull" and the word "haug". Translatedː rounded elevation in the terrain. The former hotel is located at the foot of a mountainous area, in the full sunlight, almost the whole year. Hovet is located in a valley, the sun is not able to reach over the mountains during a short time in winter.
