Description
English: French air force Maj. Guillaume Vernet shows his pride after receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor from Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz July 13, 2011, at the Lafayette Escadrille Memorial in Marnes-la-Coquette, France. Vernet was awarded the decoration for repeatedly flying into hostile territory in December 2009 while deployed to Afghanistan as an exchange officer with the 41st Rescue Squadron from Moody Air Force Base, Ga. During that mission, Vernet rescued an urgent casualty whose injury put the lives of 160 British soldiers in jeopardy.
Français : Le commandant Guillaume Vernet après avoir reçu la Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor de la part du chef d'état major de l'USAF Norton Schwartz le 13 juillet 2011 au mémorial de l'escadrille Lafayette à Marnes-la-Coquette. Vernet a reçu cette décoration pour avoir volé à plusieurs reprises en territoire hostile en décembre 2009 en Afghanistan en tant qu'officier d'échange avec le 41e Escadron de sauvetage de Moody Air Force Base, en Géorgie. Durant cette mission, Vernet a sauvé une victime dont la blessure urgente mettait la vie de 160 soldats britanniques en danger.
