| Description |
English: Grim's Bank There are many Grim's banks and Grim's ditches in this area, although this one is less obvious than others. It is thought that after the Romans left by 410AD there was a lot of fighting for territory, particularly in the area north of Roman Silchester, and such banks or ditches were built as defences or boundaries. Others think that these pre-date the Romans in about 300 BC. Grim is one of the many names for the Saxon god Woden. |
