SUBJECT Men - NH - Keene Authors, American - NH - Keene

DESCRIPTION Photograph of Simon Goodell Griffin of Keene New Hampshire. Simon was born on 8/9/1824 in Nelson NH and died on 1/4/1902. He was the author of A History of the Town of Keene NH, which was published in 1904 (and is in digital format at www.ci.keene.nh.us/library/griffin/index.html) He has a long career in the military during the Civil War and reached the rank of General. He studied law and was admitted to the NH Bar in 1860. He represented Keene in the NH legislature. He was married to Ursula Harris in 1850 and to Margaret Lawson around 1861 and had two sons.
