The green bag contains waste swept by street cleaners working for Haringey Enterprise - Haringey Council's contractors. The system used is for the bags to be left on the street and collected later. If 'later' means several hours or even overnight, this system has a 'perverse consequence'. It can act as a 'green light' – legitimating street dumping by a minority of residents. Sometimes this is next to the bin. Or maybe just round the corner. Of course, I've raised this with Haringey Urban Environment Department. |
