Title
Herakles and the Erymanthian Boar
Description
English: The scene depicts the third of Herakles' labors, the capture of the wild Erymanthian boar. The victorious hero has brought the boar alive to the king who had demanded the labor, and, as Herakles holds the boar aloft, King Eurystheus cowers below in a storage jar. Two female figures watch the scene. On the back, the wine-god Dionysus holds out a "kantharos" (a deep two-handled cup) of wine to a maenad, one of his female followers, flanked by dancing satyrs.
