British Railways Brush Type 4 Co-Co class 47/3 diesel-electric locomotive number 47332 of Crewe Diesel TMD passes Great Rocks Junction signal box 28 signal (Up Tunstead Siding To Up Main) with 27 signal (Up Tunstead Siding To Up Through Siding) above it with the 15:40 Tunstead Sidings to Oakleigh Sidings (6F42). Saturday 24th October 1987 Great Rocks Junction signal box is located by the Up Main line alongside Buxton Bridge road overbridge, and is a Midland Railway Type 4d design fitted with a 34 lever Midland Railway Tappet frame which was opened by the London Midland and Scottish Railway on 11th March 1923, replacing an 1891-built signal box in the same position. The signal box was rebuilt with a flat roof in the mid-1970s, and was refurbished and rewindowed with uPVC cladding and windows in January 2004 which completely altered the signal box's appearance |
