English: Great Central Square in Leicester This newly pedestrianised area was formerly known as Great Central Street. On the left is the former Leicester Central Station, opened on 15 March 1899, the station was part of the Great Central Railway's London Extension linking Nottingham with Marylebone in London. It closed on 5 May 1969. The station is being converted into shops. On the right is the Adagio Hotel which opened on 16 January 2020. This is part of the wider regeneration of the waterside area of Leicester. |
