English: Grand Union Canal diversion. Looking west along the GU near the Ford foundry. Until the 1980s the continued in a straight line at this point. In order for the new Europa Way development to get sufficient clearance to provide new road to the south of Leamington Spa, some quarter of a mile of canal was moved to the SW at this point. The start of the new diverted section can be made out from the change on the bank as the canal begins to curve to the left and head for one of the new bridges in the distance. |
