Description
English: Imaginary badge of the military governor of Paris
Français : insigne imaginaire de Gouverneur de Paris.

Six étoiles seraient l'insigne de grade, selon certains, des généralissimes des armées françaises et, selon d'autres, des gouverneurs militaires de Paris.

Dans la réalité, il n'en est rien :

1. Le décret du 6 juin 1939 qui traite des "hauts grades" précise les appellations à donner à des généraux exerçant des fonctions élevées, mais ne définit aucun insigne particulier pour ces grades ou ces fonctions.

2. Aucun texte ne crée d'insignes de grade particuliers aux commandants en chef des Armées de Terre, de Mer ou de l'Air ou au chef d'état-major général de la Défense nationale.

3. A défaut de document écrit ou imprimé, une photographie pourrait prouver l'existence de généraux "à six étoiles". Or, il n'en existe aucune.

Les généraux à "six étoiles" n'ont donc jamais existé, de facto ou de jure.
