Description
Deutsch: Riemer, Friedrich Wilhelm (um 1810): Goethe auf der Straße. Bleistiftzeichung16,6x 11,3cm. Wenngleich die Zeichnung von keinem Künstler stammt, so ist sie doch bei aller Unbeholfenheit einige der wenigen ganzfigurigen Darstellungen aus der späteren Lebenszeit Goethes. Graf Eugen Czernin vermerkt in seinem Tagebuch vom 4. und 5. 8. 1810: „Er ist nun schon gegen 60 Jahre alt, nicht groß.“ Im selben Jahr beschrieb Andreas von Merian seine Erscheinung: “Goethe war einfach angezogen, trug Stiefel, runden Hut, seine Orden. Seine Haare sind schwarz und grau untermischt. [ ] Seine Gestalt ist ansehnlich, gerade, fast zurückliegend; sein ganzer Anstand männlich, ehr ernst, beinahe trocken.“ (Schaeffer, E. und J.
