| Description |
Deutsch: Der Sockel mit der Inschrift stammt aus Mentana, eine Gemeinde in der Metropolitstadt Rom. Die Basis hatte eine Statue von Aurelius Bassus getragen, der zwischen dem Ende des 1. und den ersten Jahrzehnten des 2. Jahrhunderts n. Chr. lebte. Die Inschrift beschreibt die Ämterlaufbahn (Cursus honorum) des Aurelius Bassus, der das Amt eines Prokurators ausübte und als Präfekt in der Provinz Britannia gedient hatte. Nach seiner militärischen Laufbahn war er Patron für die Via Nomentana und Kurator (Curator civitatis) von Nomentum (heute Mentana), die Stadt, in der er wahrscheinlich geboren wurde. Die Basis ist in den Vatikanischen Museen ausgestellt (Inv. 2003).
