Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A close-up of the glow transmitter mechanism invented by Dr. Phillips Thomas (according to the caption of another image featured in article). Surrounding text reads (in part): "Another type of thermo-microphone has also been put to successful use—the glow transmitter developed by Dr. Phillips Thomas, of the Westinghouse Research Laboratories. Dr. Thomas has demonstrated that a high-pressure, low-current electrical discharge between two electrodes in air may be modulated by sound impulses striking upon it."
