Description
English: Glaucus gulls (Larus hyperboreus) are the biggest gull species on Svalbard; they usually take over the functions of raptors in this region. Some thousand bird couples are breeding on the archipelago in summer. Here an adult bird is shown with a hatchling
Deutsch: Eismöwen (Larus hyperboreus) repräsentieren die größte Möwenart auf Spitzbergen; sie übernehmen generell die Funktion der Greifvögel in dieser Region. Mehrere tausend Brutpaare ziehen im Sommer hier ihren Nachwuchs auf. Hier ist ein adulter Vogel mit einem Küken gezeigt.
