Notes | A drawing from the so called Gaetano Chiavari Sketchbook, folio 53. Monument of the heart of Marie Louise Gonzaga was commissioned by the King to be placed in the Visitations Church in Warsaw. The monument was made of silver and during the Kościuszko Insurrection in 1794 it was bequested by the nuns to the National Treasury and melted for coinage. According to the oldest description preserved in a book printed in 1848, the final monument depicted two angels carrying the heart with two other angels above holding a crown with laurel wreath. Below there was a coffin with Polish eagles and coat of arms. All was covered with royal mantle formed as a tent. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
