Description
English: The school was established in 1901 by William Edward Geoffrey, a black man who had moved to Gifford from Darlington, South Carolina.

The school served African American children and included a high school in 1938. Following integration of Indian River County schools, the high school closed in 1969, and the school became a middle school.
