Summary

[edit]
Description This building in the process of being demolished was originally the stock house of the brewery in Georgetown, Seattle, Washington, which brewed Rainier Beer before Washington State "went dry" in 1916. Built 1903 (some sources give slightly different dates) it stood until 2008. In its latter years it was Rainier Cold Storage. The ground under it was deeply frozen for many years. When the freezers were turned off, it began to thaw, endangering the building. Nonetheless, the emergency demolition permit obtained in January 2008 was very controversial.
