Photographers. 119 and 112 First St. Portland, Oregon. PH Coll 334 Buchtel and Stolte.1Joseph Buchtel and E.H. Stolte formed a partnership in 1873 and operated at 91 First St. in Portland, Oregon until 1875. The studio moved to First and Morrison in 1875, and Buchtel and Stolte partnered together in Portland and Salem until 1878. Stolte died in Portland in 1909. Buchtel also owned several other studios around Portland, Oregon including the firm of Bosco and Megler. He was a prominent citizen of Portland and served as fire chief and Sheriff of Multnomah County. Buchtel died in Portland in 1916. George Abernathy was an Oregon pioneer, notable entrepreneur, and first governor of Oregon under the provisional government. He died March 2, 1877.
