Description

The gem of Punjabi Stage, a versatile actor of his time, Murtaza Hassan (our very dear Mastana) lies buried in Mohalla Aam Khaas Qabrastan at Bahawalpur. Though late in paying the tribute, I was there standing grieved for someone whose name was synonymous to nothing but pure laughter. I know of Punjabi Stage as of Mastana (Murtaza Hassan). My earlier romance with the genre developed in my university days once the trio of Punjabi Stage giants Khalid Abbas Dar, Sohail Ahmed and Mastana was in full swing. The Punjabi Comedy has never been played at its best but at the theatre, and it has never been played in such versatility as performed by our very dear Mastana. May Allah bless his soul in the eternal abode, Amen.
