Deutsch:
Inschrift:
PER SCIENTIAM AD JUSTITIAM
- Durch Wissenschaft zum Recht -
Unter diesen Gedanken Stellte der Arzt und Sexualwissenschaftler
Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld

Inscription:
PER SCIENTIAM AD JUSTITIAM
- Science for Justice -
To this principle, the physician and sexologist
Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld
* 14.5.1868 in Kollberg ✝ 14.5.1935 in exile in Nice
dedicated the work of the Institute for Sexology (Institut für Sexualwissenschaft) which he founded on August 6, 1919 near this cite, In den Zelten 9a-10.
Recognized by the Prussian state as a foundation, the building was ransacked and misappropriated by the National Socialists in May 1933, and its more than 12,000 texts publicly burned.
Destroyed during World War II, the Institute for Sexual Science was the first institution in the world to bring together sexological research and teaching, a site providing medical assistance and a refuge for all who were ostracized from society due to their sexuality.
