page 312, donne le groupe de ia Vierge et de lEnfant avec la date1516. Cette date nest pas de la main de Diirer et a été ajoutée après coup. La factureet les types sont évidemment de lépoque que nous lui assignons. Ce dessin provientde la Collection Suermondt. 2. V. Gazette des Beaux-Arts, tome XVI, 240 livr. 3. Une addition postérieure indique que ces dessins ont été vendus à lempereurRodolphe 11. 4. En 1773, les deux dessins se trouvaient encore réunis au Belvédère de Vienne.On en trouve une description dans le catalogue de Cr. Mechel. La Résurrection futacquise plus tard par le prince de Ligne et passa à lAlbertine. Lors de linvasionfrdnçaise le Samson devint la possession du général Andréossy, entra ensuite dans lagalerie du comte de Pourlalès et fut vendu en 186b avec toute la collection. M. Posounyacheta ce dessin pour 4,750 francs et lemporta à Vienne. Le Samson revint en Francechez M. Hulot; il figure depuis quelques mois au Cabinet des estampes de Berlin.

(Dessin en Camaïeu de la CollectionHulot ) Imp-A.Cilaxt.Piu LES DESSINS DALBERT DURER. 5hl donnatice des deux panneaux est la même : lun et lautre sont divisésen deux parties dont la supérieure de beaucoup la plus grande contientla scène principale, tandis que linférieure est remplie par divers orne-ments et figures encadrant un panneau portant ces mots en grandes ca-pitales : Albertus Durer, Norenbergensis faciebat post Virginis partiimiôlOy et le monogramme. Les deux dessins sont encadrés dans un cintreoblong supporté dans la Résurrection du Christ par deux légères colonnesqui manquent dans le Samson. Nous donnons ici en gravure hors texte un fac-similé du Samson unpeu réduit, remarquable par une exactitude scrupuleuse et un vraisentiment de loriginal. On connaît la légendaire bataille du héros juifcontre les Philistins. Cette glorification biblique de la force corporelleétait merveilleus
