Nous nous expliquons : les manuscrits de Léonard comportent,selon nous, trois natures différentes de publications : 1° Les reproductions en fac-similé de tous ceux des manuscritsqui renferment des croquis ou des dessins, afin de sauver, de conserverintacts ces écrits et den permettre aussi le contrôle aux siècles àvenir. 1. Nous empruntons la reproduction de ce dessin à louvrage de M. Richter. DERNIERS TRAVAUX SUR LEONARD DE VINCI. 361 2° Le travail de groupement de tous les matériaux ayant trait àune même science ou à un même art ; 3 Les monographies qui, tantôt pourront revêtir le caractèredun traité, dun cours complet, tantôt la forme plus restreinte duneétude, dun essai, et dont le but sera de compléter les écrits deLéonard et den tirer tous les enseignements possibles. Il va sans dire que sil y avait moyen dès à présent de répartir

Cette collaboration simultanée de savants et dartistes, telle quellea eu lieu pour le Saggio , eût nécessité en quelque sorte la résurrection 1.
