| Description |
English: Approaching Garsdale station from the SW, 1995. This station on the celebrated Settle & Carlisle Line (ex-Midland main line from Leeds etc to Carlisle) was 'Hawes Junction' until 1/9/32, the branch to Hawes lasting until 16/3/59. Garsdale station was closed 4/5/70, but after the success of the prolonged campaign to save the Settle & Carlisle Line it was reopened in 1986. The horizon here is dominated by Baugh Fell (2,217 ft.). |
