| Description |
Global narrow-angle mosaic of Ganymede taken by Voyager 2 during its flyby of the moon on July 9, 1979. This mosaic uses data from 87 frames. Because Voyager's viewing geometry was rapidly changing as it approached Ganymede, the imaging team broke down the task of imaging Ganymede into multiple mosaics. To put this mosaic together, I first assembled the various mosaics together, and then warped them around the position of the first mosaic. This achieves a somewhat common viewing geometry and resolution for all mosaics. Note of caution: this is not a geometrically controlled image, so it may not be useful for much past seeing relative positions of features and as a pretty picture.
