Opis vrste

D.t. 17–19 cm. Rasprostranjena je u većem delu Evrope, osim delova severa i zapada kontinenta i Britanskih ostrva, u velikom delu centralne Azije, na Bliskom i Srednjem istoku, u Maloj Aziji, delovima Indije, severnoj Africi i na južnim obodima Sahare. Stanarica je. Staništa su joj otvorena područja sa oskudnom vegetacijom (stepe, pašnjaci, polupustinje, poljoprivredna područja), u Evropi česta na zakorovljenim staništima, u okolini industrijskih postrojenja, kopova i puteva. Gnezda gradi na zemlji. Hrani se različitim beskičmenjacima i semenjem biljaka. U Evropi preovlađuje stabilan trend populacije, mada brojnost opada u zapadnim i centralnim delovima kontinenta. U Srbiji se populacija procenjuje na 38.000–52.000 gnezdećih parova, uz opadajući trend.
