[edit]DescriptionGadhimai Temple Gadhimai Kalaiya Bara Nepal Rajesh Dhungana (7).jpg |
English: Gadhimai Devi is located in Gadhimai Municipality-8, about 11 km east of Kalaiya, the district headquarters of Bara district, in the west of Bariyarpur Bazaar. To reach here, one has to go from Birgunj Bazaar to Kalaiya, the district headquarters of Bara. There is a temple of Gadhimai on the right side of the road.
According to the legend about the origin of these goddesses, at one time a person named Bhagwan Chaudhary was imprisoned on the charge of murder. One day, Gadhimai, disguised as an old woman, asked me to take her to Bariyarpur village. Then the handcuffs and all the doors of the prison began to open by themselves. And the Chaudhary established the goddess in Bariyarpur as the goddess said. From that time onwards, there is a legend that worship has started with Panchabali. Similarly, according to the next legend, there was a dhami named Rasoguru of Simraungadh. As she was a devotee of Kali of Calcutta, India, the goddess had great mercy on her. He had extracted high quality rice seeds while milking in Baghwadara grass. When the king inquired after seeing the influence of Kalimai, the king wanted to see the goddess Mai, meaning Rasoguru. There is even a legend that he has become famous. Devotees' faith in this goddess is very famous not only in Nepal but also for the devotees of neighboring India. A big fair is held in the place of Gadhimai Devi every 5 year in the month of Mangsir. Millions of devotees from home and abroad come here. Devotees offer sacrifices in this temple. The fair is considered to be the largest animal sacrifice fair in Asia. The trident of Chautari, built under the vote of the great bridegroom, is worshiped as the main symbol of Gadhimai. These forts are worshiped only after bathing in a pool on the west side of the east facing temple without a door. On the morning of Poush Shukla Saptami and Ashtami, at Brahmamuharta, the priest cleans and offers the blood of the finger. Only then are rats, goats, pigs, buffaloes, etc. offered at the altar site. To the east and south of the temple is also the place of Brahma Baba under the holy tree bar . Sacrifices of other animal sacrifices are started at the fair only after the first sacrifice of the white mouse is seen during the fair. Devotees come to this place in millions to fulfill their desires. Every 5 years a big fair is held here and thousands of calves, goats and birds are sacrificed. Since the sacrifices offered here should not be taken home, it is customary to bury them. At this time, a stream of blood flows here. Sacrificed birds and animals can't sit still. There is a great belief that if you ask for a gift by swearing allegiance to Gadhimai, it will be fulfilled and your wish will be fulfilled. The priests of the temple of this goddess have been doing the work of Lord Chaudhary's family. |
