Description

See the blood vessel at high resolution <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/functionalneurogenesis/5934613930">here</a> and related blog post <a href="http://www.functionalneurogenesis.com/blog/2011/07/in-press-the-neurogenesis-depression-hypothesis-confirmed/" rel="noreferrer nofollow">here</a>.

Green = GFAP, labels astrocyte processes and radial glial stem cells. Red = Thymidine kinase, expressed in the cell body of all GFAP+ cells, allows for selective killing of GFAP+ cells that divide (i.e. stem cells), thereby reducing adult neurogenesis.

Blue = counterstain, labels all cell nuclei.
