Description: The canoe was made from one tree trunk, for which they use some kind of fast growing tree, because they believe that these trees possess life force. On the one hand these canoes help the spirits of the death cross to the afterlife on the other hand they are also used to initiatie boys into manhood.

The object is part of the Etnographic Collections of Ghent University (EVUG).
