Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This aircraft had a somewhat murky past with lots of rumours. Flyjet was a short-lived British charter airline which became 'SilverJet' and started all Business Class scheduled services. They leased it on 12-Apr-06 and it was delivered into London-Gatwick (LGW) on 14-Apr-06 in the basic Flyjet c/scheme you see here. It operated a proving flight on 18-Apr-06 LGW/Newcastle (NCL)/LGW and was then parked at LGW. On 23-May-06 it ferried LGW/Manchester (MAN) and was then parked at MAN.

It was variously rumoured to have a cracked fuselage stringer and/or 'tech records' problems relating to the fitting of non-standard spares during it's time in Africa between 2000/2004. Whatever the real problems were, the UK CAA would not allow it to enter service.

It's seen here leaving MAN for Lasham (QLA) on 07-Jul-06 where it was again parked until 20-Oct-06 when it ferried from QLA to Southend (SEN).

It was re-registered G-SJET when the airline changed it's name to SilverJet on 01-Dec-06. It entered service with Silverjet and served with them until they ceased ops on 30-May-08.

It's story doesn't end there though, it was repossessed by the leasing company and was stored for over two years at Victorville (VCV), CA, USA, and Rio-de-Janeiro (GIG). It was then leased to the Government of Djibuti as J2-KBE. It's now re-registered ZS-DJI (the leasing/operating company is South African) and is still in service (as of Jan-12).
