English: Superintendent Gösta Berg, from the international archaeologist and art historian conference in Visby.
The first international scientific post-war congress will open in Visby and will take place until 23 September. Through the participation of the Swedish Institute and the Nordic Association, approximately 170 archaeologists and art historians, as well as students from seven nations gather for deliberations, lectures and study trips with the Middle Ages and especially the medieval stained glass as the main subject. The initiator is Professor Axel Boëthius, who first raised the thought in Svenska Dagbladet, together with Professor Johnny Roosval, who together with Docent Mårten Stenberger formed the organizing committee. The meeting is considered the foundation of a research institute in Visby in conjunction with regularly repeated Nordic university and university excursions in Gotland or elsewhere. |
