English:

The initiation of streetcar service from downtown Seattle to West Seattle in 1907 created a boom for the neighborhood. Apartment buildings such as Friedlander Court at 2246 Alki Avenue were located in the heart of West Seattle. The streetcar tracks are visible in the foreground of this picture.
