Italiano: Macchina realizzata principalmente in ottone, con parti in ferro. Azionamento a manovella con pomolo ligneo terminale. Dotazione di ruota dentata di ottone. Fissabile in morsa.
Funzione

Il diametro dell'ingranaggio ottenibile sulla macchina era consono alla grandezza della stessa; pertanto la dimensione della macchina era proporzionale a quella delle di ruote da realizzare: di piccolo, medio, grande formato.

Notizie storico-critiche
Parte della storiografia assegna a Robert Hooke, fisico inglese (1635-1703), l'ideazione di questa tipologia di macchina utensile, tuttavia è ragionevole supporre che il macchinario sia stato approntato, per stadi successivi, dagli stessi costruttori di piattaforme. L'inventore è dunque sconosciuto. Dall'inizio del Settecento si rilevano comunque notizie certe in merito alla macchina per tagliare i denti. Lo si evince da un disegno pubblicato nel 1709 da Nicolas Bion nel suo "Traite des instrumens de mathématique, dal quale se ne ricava appunto la composizione. Nelle tavole della Encyclopédie si trova illustrata la macchina per tagliare le ruote di Sully (cfr. IV, tavv. XX-XXI-XXII-XXIII), e quella ideata da Hulot (cfr. IV, tavv. XXIV-XXV-XXVI).
