DescriptionFrenchman Flat Underground Garage 007.jpg | PLUMBBOB - 1957 - NEVADA TEST SITE -- The 100-ton blast door for the underground garage-mass shelter has been rolled back on its monorail, undamaged by a recent atomic detonation. Debris from a retaining wall, loosened by the blast, and the sandbags in the foreground do not interfere with operation of the four-feet-thick reinforced concrete door. Air-tight closure of the door is effected by an inflated rubber gasket which fits in a metal groove running around the inside of the door frame. | ||||
