| Description |
English: Freemason Museum The Hague, interior: Monumental silver chandelier, crafted by Amsterdam silversmith and freemason G. Grevink. It was a present for Prince Frederick of the Netherlands (1797–1881) in 1856, on the occasion of his 40-year jubilee as Grandmaster of the Order; hence the 40 lights. At the beginning of World War II it was stolen by the Germans and soon put up for auction. There the chandelier was recognized and purchased by Mr. Onderdenwijngaard (pseudonym for Polak), who returned the piece of heritage to the order building after the war. |
