English: The Fredericka Ingold House, 92 Harvard Place, Buffalo, New York, September 2022. Built in 1895, this two-and-a-half-story wood-frame residence in the city's Oxford neighborhood is a fine example of the Queen Anne style of architecture that was popular in the era. While the asymmetry of the façade, the ample proportions of the projecting front-gabled roof, and full-width front porch are all typical features of the style, the requisite Classical detailing is mostly reserved for the aforementioned gable, which cantilevers outward from the wall below and is centered on a handsome Palladian window featuring engaged Ionic columns, with a raking dentil row underneath the eaves. The house was built for Fredericka Ingold (1846-1910), the recently widowed wife of William Ingold (1844-1893). A native of Schallstadt, Baden-Württemberg, William kept a saloon on Washington Street at the present site of Sahlen Field and, remarkably, prospered in his business to such a degree that his obituary in the Buffalo Morning Express described him as figuring among the oldest and most esteemed members of the city's German-American business community. Mrs. Ingold lived in the house with her children until 1905.
