Title
Fragment of a post-medieval lead cloth seal
Description
English: Fragment of a post-medieval lead cloth seal. A small part of two discs, fused together, survives. There are worn breaks on all edges of both, with no original edge extant. The larger of the two is stamped E D R. There are letters above and below this, which survive only partially: one above, probably an O, and three below, possibly an O, then an R, P, E or F, then possibly an I, N or M. All the letters (apart from the Os) have sharp serifs. The smaller fragment on the reverse is stamped with a figure 4, composed of a right-angled triangle whose short sides extend and cross one another. These reach to the edges of the fragment. Probably 16th or 17th century.

Length: 11.9mm. Width: 11.1mm. Thickness: 3.5mm. Weight: 1g
