The inmates of the British fort in Kumasi (Ashanti) during the Fifth Anglo-Ashanti War in 1900. English: The British officer in the back row (6th person from left, standing) is Captain Cecil H. Armitage, the later "Commissioner of the Gold Coast Northern Territories" (1910-1920). For his participation on the 1900 campaign he was decorated with the D.S.O. (Distinguished Service Order). |
