Former Entrance, Haywards Heath Station

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Former Entrance, Haywards Heath Station The modern red brick building to the right marks the northern side of Clair Road once known as Station Road which led to the entrance to the original station building. The road itself was soon filled with railway cottages and a pub, the Liverpool Arms, which stood to the left of the billboard and the old shell of the building finally demolished only a few years ago. The house behind is the last surviving building from that time as many of the cottages came down in 1970 in order to construct a car park which also extended into the area of the former goods yard. The station buildings and platforms had also been redesigned in 1933 in readiness for the electrification of the line. A new entrance was made below in Commercial Square and the platforms isolated from the entrance in Station Road. Taken from platform 1 on the station.
