Summary
[edit]DescriptionFootpath to North Wingfield - geograph.org.uk - 608869.jpg |
English: Footpath to North Wingfield. This westerly facing photograph is of a stile at the south-eastern end of a footpath linking North Wingfield (ahead) with the B6039¹ (at the viewpoint).
The stile is badly overgrown by the hedgerow and briers and is decidedly tricky to scramble over. At one time there was a signpost just to the left of the stile. The post is stile there but the sign is no longer in evidence. (I found it two or three metres away, lying in the verge. It was bent, scratched and torn and for all the world looks as though it has been caught up in one of the flails used to trim hedges.) This footpath is directly across from the road junction (behind the viewpoint) with, and on the same alignment as, 608514¹, which might suggest that, at one time, the two were part of the same route. For a more north-westerly (ahead, on the other side of the stile) view of the field the footpath passes through, click here 612580. For a southerly (left) facing photograph of the B6039 taken from a nearby viewpoint, click here 608845.
