Summary
[edit]DescriptionFootpath level crossing near Balgonie Colliery - geograph.org.uk - 946972.jpg |
English: Footpath level crossing near Balgonie Colliery For a potential opencast coal site at Earls Seat, north-east of Thornton, the first mile and a half of the disused Methil Power Station branch has been refettled. Most of the work involved the bringing up to modern standards of three level crossings along the line. The most westerly was this footpath crossing near the site of Balgonie Colliery. Between the trees and bushes on the right-hand side can be seen the parapet and railing of the bridge under the Edinburgh to Dundee main line at the entrance to the colliery and more of the main line embankment can be seen on the left above the overgrown branch line. |
