Summary
[edit]DescriptionFootpath and standing deadwood - geograph.org.uk - 1733938.jpg |
English: Footpath and standing deadwood The old Beech tree on this footpath in the gardens of Greenway Bank Country Park ( http://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/environment/e-land/Countryside/OpenSpaces/OpenSpacesGreenwayBank.htm ) has snapped off quite high up, and because it is a nice straight trunk there is no danger of it falling over and injuring a member of the public. Standing deadwood like this is a wonderful natural resource for wildlife: invertebrates will use the cracks and crevices in the rotting wood to find shelter and food and the invertebrates, in turn, will provide food for birds like Woodpeckers and Tree Creepers. |
